Report: Megan Anderson Faces Cat Zingano At UFC 232

A women’s featherweight division bout has been added to UFC 232 according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN as Megan Anderson faces #6 (WBW) Cat Zingano.

The report from Helwani also states that fighters could serve as the backup in case Cyboarg and/or Amanda Nunes are unable to compete for the vacant women’s featherweight title at UFC 232.

Anderson (8-3-0) is currently winless under the UFC banner, having dropped a bout to Holly Holm via unanimous decision at UFC 225. Anderson is a former Invicta FC Featherweight Champion, defeating Charmaine Tweet to win the gold at Invicta FC 21. Anderson hasn’t picked up a victory in almost two years, with her last victory coming in January of 2017.

Zingano (10-3-0) is making her UFC Women’s Featherweight Division debut in the fight, having previously competed at bantamweight in the promotion. Zingano has won just one of her last four in the UFC, with that lone win coming over Marion Reneau at UFC Fight Night Boise. Zingano has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title, losing to then champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 184.

UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Cyborg and Amanda Nunes headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
