Report: Max Rohskopf Released By The UFC
Max Rohskopf has had a rather short UFC tenure after being cut by the promotion.
Max Rohskopf made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Volkov, suffering a second-round TKO loss to Austin Hubbard. It would appear that Rohskopf’s UFC debut will serve as his only UFC fight. MMA Fighting is reporting that the UFC has released Rohskopf.
The fighter blamed self-boycotting as the culprit behind his loss when speaking to MMA Fighting after the Hubbard bout.
“I’ve done this my whole life,” Rohskopf said. “I’ve self-boycotted myself. Even when I was wrestling in high school, I was the best in the state and ended up getting third because I self-boycotted myself. I was one of the best guys in the country in college, was never an All-American when it counted, because I was telling myself that, for whatever reason, I don’t deserve it. That’s exactly what I did in my fight with Austin. Sh*t got hard, and I looked at my coach and said, ‘I don’t want to be here anymore.’ Not because I didn’t want to be there, but because I didn’t think I deserved to be there.”
Rohskopf went 5-0-0 outside of the UFC. All of the wins are via submission, including an appearance in Titan Fighting Championship.
There is no word on where Rohskopf will fight next but the fighter is free to sign with whatever promotion makes an offer.
