Report: Mauricio Alonso Faces Johnny Eblen At Bellator 229

A middleweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 229 according to MMA Fighting as Mauricio Alonso is going to be in action against Johnny Eblen.

Alonso (13-7-0-1NC) is back in action for the first time in almost three years, with his last bout being a first round TKO win over Josh Koscheck at Bellator 172. Alonso does come into the contest while in the midst of a three fight winning streak and he hasn’t been beaten in over four years. Alonso has suffered seven losses as a professional MMA fighter and six of them have come by way of submission.

Eblen (5-0-0) has already picked up one win under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating Chauncey Foxworth by unanimous decision at Bellator 218. Eblen had previously competed in the Shamrock FC promotion, where he picked up three of four wins by way of KO/TKO. Eblen has competed a total of five times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of those encounters went the distance.

Bellator 229 takes place on Friday, October 4 from the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California with Andrey Koreshkov and Lorenz Larkin headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
