Report: Magomedov Ankalaev vs. Ion Cutelaba Rebooked For UFC 254
UFC 254 just got a serious upgrade, assuming Magomedov Ankalaev and Ion Cutelaba make it to fight night.
Ankalaev vs. Cutelaba 2 seems to be in the works for the pay-per-view event. The rematch has not been formally announced but currently appears on ESPN’s event lineup. The pair originally met at a Fight Night card in February. Ankalaev was awarded a controversial first-round TKO after which it seemed Cutelaba was playing possum.
The rematch was booked for UFC 249 but later postponed. It was rescheduled for UFC 252 but Cutelaba tested positive for COVID-19. It was subsequently booked again for UFC Vegas 9 but Cutelaba again tested positive. This would mark the fourth time the rematch is being booked.
UFC 254 takes place on Saturday, October 24 on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. The card is headlined by UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. The main card will air on pay-per-view. Keep up with Fightful for all your fight night coverage.
