Report: Kyle Stewart Replaces Dwight Grant At UFC Fight Night Brooklyn
Dwight Grant was supposed to replace Randy Brown at UFC Fight Night Brooklyn, but was apparently not cleared to compete by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) due to an eye issue according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN.
Grant would comment on the situation via Instagram:
Helwani also reports that Kyle Stewart will now get the short notice opportunity to battle Chance Rencountre at UFC Fight Night Brooklyn.
Rencountre (12-3-0) is currently winless in UFC competition, having dropped a bout to Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night Utica. Rencountre also competed twice in the Bellator MMA promotion, defeating Jake Lindsey and suffering a defeat to Justin Patterson. Rencountre has suffered three defeats as a professional MMA fighter and all of those losses have come by way of decision.
Stewart (11-1-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a recent win. Stewart did compete on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 3, defeating Jason Jackson by second round TKO. Stewart has previously challenged for the LFA Welterweight Title, losing to James Nakashima at LFA 46.
UFC Fight Night Brooklyn takes place on Saturday, January 19 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
