Report: Kevin Syler Injured, Off Dana White’s Contender Series Episode 27
The debut episode of Dana White’s Contender Series season four has taken a hit as Kevin Syler is injured and has been pulled from a main event bout against Kenny Cross.
MMA Junkie first reported the news, but no reason has been given for Syler’s withdrawal at this time. It is also unknown if Cross will remain on the card, as his manager in Matt Frendo says the UFC may sign him to a contract instead of finding a replacement opponent.
Cross (7-3-0) has spent the majority of his professional MMA career competing in Knockout Promotions, winning five of seven there. Cross is competing for the first time in just over a year, as his last bout took place at WXC 80 in July of 2019. Cross has competed ten times as a professional MMA fighter and none of those bouts went the distance.
Dana White’s Contender Series Episode 27 takes place on Tuesday, August 4 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Kenny Cross and an opponent to be announced potentially headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
