Report: Keri Melendez Faces Mandy Polk At Bellator 229

A women’s catchweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 229 according to Marc Raimondi of ESPN as Keri Melendez is in action against Mandy Polk.

Melendez (3-0-0) has spent her entire professional MMA career competing in Bellator MMA, defeating the trio of Sheila Padila, Tiana Valle and Dakota Zimmerman. Melendez is going to be back in action for the first time in a year, as her last bout took place at Bellator 206 in September of 2018. Melendez has competed a total of three times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of those encounters went the distance.

Polk (3-4-0) is going to be making her Bellator MMA debut in this bout and does so while in the midst of a two fight losing streak. Polk hasn’t picked up a victory in almost three years, with that last win coming over Ronni Nanney at a V3 Fights event in October of 2016. Polk has fought a few big show veterans in the past, including UFC veteran Mackenzie Dern and Bellator MMA vet Rebecca Ruth.

Bellator 229 takes place on Friday, October 4 from the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California with Andrey Koreshkov and Lorenz Larkin headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
