Report: John Allan Replaces Gerald Meerschaert At UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Teixeira
Gerald Meerschaert has been pulled from UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Teixeira, replacing him against Ed Herman is John Allan.
MMA Fighting first reported the news, but no reason was given for Meerschaert’s withdrawal.
Herman (25-14-0-1NC) enters the contest riding a two-fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Patrick Cummins and Khadis Ibragimov. Herman has not suffered a defeat in well over a year. That last loss came against Gian Villante at UFC Fight Night Moncton.
Allan (13-5-0-1NC) is winless thus far in UFC competition, fighting Mike Rodriguez to a no-contest at UFC Fight Night Sacramento. Allan previously competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil Episode 3, suffering a second-round submission loss to Vinicius Moreira. Allan is still scheduled to face Roman Dolidze at UFC 255, which is scheduled for November 21.
UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Teixeira takes place on Saturday, September 12 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
