Report: Jessica Aguilar vs. Jodie Esquibel Rescheduled For UFC Fight Night Boise
A bantamweight division encounter originally set for UFC Fight Night Utica has been rescheduled for UFC Fight Night Boise according to Jessica Aguilar as she takes on Jodie Esquibel. The original bout between the two at UFC Fight Night Utica got canned after the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) said Aguilar had a potentially contagious medical issue.
Aguilar (19-6-0) is currently winless under the UFC banner, dropping fights to the duo of Claudia Gadelha and Cortney Casey. Aguilar is a former World Series Of Fighting Women’s Strawweight Champion, defeating Alida Gray at the WSOF 8 to win the gold. Aguilar hasn’t earned a victory in almost four years, with that last win coming over Kalindra Faria at the WSOF 15.
Esquibel (6-3-0) is also winless thus far in her UFC campaign, dropping a bout to Karolina Kowalkiewicz by decision at UFC Fight Night Gdansk. Esquibel has also seen her last five fights go the distance and it has been almost five years since the fighter got a finish. Esquibel also competed six times in the Invicta FC promotion, defeating UFC veteran DeAnna Bennett at Invicta FC 22.
UFC Fight Night Boise takes place on Saturday, July 14 from the Century Link Arena in Boise, Idaho with Junior Dos Santos and Blagoy Ivanov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
