Report: Jennifer Maia Faces Viviane Araujo At UFC Fight Night Austin
A women’s flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Austin as #4 Jennifer Maia faces #7 Viviane Araujo.
Combate first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Maia (17-6-1) has won two of four under the UFC banner, with those victories coming over the duo of Alexis Davis and Roxanne Modafferi. Maia has seen her last eight professional MMA bouts go the distance and it has been over four years since the fighter got a finish. Maia is a former Invicta FC Flyweight Champion, defeating Vanessa Porto at Invicta FC 16 to claim the gold.
Araujo (8-2-0) has won two of three in the UFC, with those wins coming over the two pack of Talita Bernardo and the aforementioned Davis. Araujo is making her first “Fight Night” appearance, as all of the fighter’s previous bouts took place on pay-per-view cards. Araujo has picked up eight wins as a professional MMA fighter and half of them came by way of submission.
UFC Fight Night Austin takes place on Saturday, June 27 from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
