Report: James Gallagher Injured, Ben Henderson vs. Roger Huerta Now Headlines Bellator 196

James Gallagher has suffered a hand injury according to MMA Fighting and his main event bout against Adam Borics at Bellator 196 has been scrapped. The new main event of the show is now going to be a lightweight division encounter as Ben Henderson faces Roger Huerta.

There is no word at this time if the Gallagher versus Borics bout is going to be rescheduled or if both fighters will go their separate ways.

Henderson (24-8-0) has won just one of four fights under the Bellator MMA banner, with that single victory coming over Patricio Freire at Bellator 160. Henderson has already challenged for the promotions lightweight and welterweight titles, losing to then lightweight champion Michael Chandler at Bellator 165 and then welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov at Bellator 153. Henderson is also a former UFC LIghtweight Champion, defeating Frankie Edgar at UFC 144 to win the gold.

Huerta (24-9-1-1NC) enters the fight on the strength of a two bout winning streak, which includes a win over UFC veteran Hayder Hassan. Huerta also returns to Bellator MMA for the first time in almost eight years, going 1-2-0 during his initial run in the company. Huerta also won six of eight fights during a stint in the UFC, but hasn’t competed in the organization since September of 2009.

Bellator 196 takes place on Friday, April 6 from the Budapest Sports Arena in Budapest, Hungary with Ben Henderson and Roger Huerta headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs via tape delay on the Paramount Network.
