Report: Jairzinho Rozenstruik Steps In At UFC Fight Night Washington DC

Alistair Overeem was in need of a new opponent for UFC Fight Night Washington DC after the withdrawal of Walt Harris and now he has one because Jairzinho Rozenstruik has accepted the short notice opportunity.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN first reported the change, with the bout still serving as the main event of the show.

Overeem (45-17-0-1NC) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Sergei Pavlovich and Aleksei Oleinik. Overeem hasn’t suffered a defeat in over a year, with that last loss coming against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 225. Overeem has previously headlined four UFC cards and he holds a record of 3-1-0 in those encounters.

Rozenstruik (9-0-0) has already picked up three wins under the UFC banner, defeating the trio of Junior Albini, Allen Crowder and Andrei Arlovski. Rozenstruik has picked up nine wins as a professional MMA fighter and eight of them have come by way of KO/TKO. Rozenstruik has competed three times in the UFC and his total fight time in those bouts is under seven minutes.

UFC Fight Night Washington DC takes place on Saturday, December 7 from the Capital One Arena in Washington DC with Alistair Overeem and Jairzinho Rozenstruik headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
