Report: Gilbert Melendez Faces Arnold Allen At UFC 232

A featherweight division attraction has been added to UFC 232 according to Nolan King of Flo Combat as Gilbert Melendez faces Arnold Allen.

Melendez (22-7-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a four fight losing streak and he hasn’t picked up a victory in almost five years. Melendez has twice before challenged for the UFC Lightweight Title, losing to the duo of then champions Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis. Melendez has won just one of four bouts at UFC pay-per-view events, with that lone win coming over Diego Sanchez at UFC 166.

Allen (13-1-0) is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, having defeated Alan Omer, Yaotzin Meza, Makwan Amirkhani and Mads Burnell. Allen hasn’t suffered a defeat in over four years, with that last loss coming to Marcin Wrzosek at Cage Warriors 69. Allen is also competing on a UFC pay-per-view card for the first time during his UFC tenure, which has lasted over three years.

UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Cyborg and Amanda Nunes headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
