Report: Frankie Edgar Signs New Contract With The UFC

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar makes his UFC Bantamweight Division debut at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Ige, facing Pedro Munhoz in the co-main event of the show.

However, before Edgar steps into the Octagon, some business was taken care of outside the Octagon in the form of a new contract signed by the fighter.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN is reporting that Edgar has signed a new multi-fight deal with the promotion, but the length of the contract or any financial numbers associated with the deal weren’t revealed at this time.

Edgar has spent the last thirteen-plus years competing in the UFC, earning a record of 17-8-1 in the promotion (23-8-1 overall). Edgar, during his decade-plus in the promotion, has picked up notable wins over Tyson Griffin, Spencer Fisher, Hermes Franca, Sean Sherk, BJ Penn, Gray Maynard, Charles Oliveira, Cub Swanson, Urijah Faber, Chad Mendes, Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez. Edgar won the UFC Lightweight Title back at UFC 112, defeating BJ Penn by unanimous decision to claim the gold.

UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Ige takes place on Wednesday, July 15 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
