Report: Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson II Headlines Bellator 231
A heavyweight division rematch is going to be headlining Bellator 231 according to MMA Junkie as former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir is again going to be battling Roy Nelson.
Mir (18-13-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a four fight losing streak and he hasn’t picked up a win in over four years. Mir is also winless in Bellator MMA competition, having dropped bouts to the duo of Fedor Emelianenko and Javy Ayala. Mir and Nelson met once before at UFC 130 in May of 2011, with Mir scoring a unanimous decision win on that night.
Nelson (23-17-0) has won just one of four fights under the Bellator MMA banner, with that lone win coming against Javy Ayala at Bellator 183. Nelson hasn’t earned a victory in just about two years, with that last win coming in September of 2017. Nelson has picked up twenty three wins as a professional MMA fighter and fifteen of them have come by way of KO/TKO.
Bellator 231 takes place on Friday, October 25 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Frank Mir and Roy Nelson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
