Report: Former Bellator Fighter Joe Taimanglo Arrested On Firearm Charges

Joe Taimanglo is back in the headlines, but for the wrong reasons, as the former Bellator fighter was recently arrested on a variety of a charges.

A report from the Pacific Daily News states that Taimanglo was arrested by the Guam Police Department yesterday, eventually being “charged with possession of a firearm without a firearm ID as a third-degree felony, illegal possession of a concealed firearm as a third-degree felony and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance as a third-degree felony.”

The report states that the police pulled over Taimanglo while he was riding a scooter, authorities saw Taimanglo reaching under the seat of the scooter, but Taimaglo says he was looking for identification. However, when the authorities looked in the seat, they discovered a firearm, a glass pipe and a bag of methamphetamine.

While the fighter would initially deny knowing the gun and drugs were under the scooter seat, he would eventually admit to finding the gun after someone robbing a store dropped it and he was taking the drugs from his cousin so the cousin couldn’t use them.

Taimanglo went 24-9-1 as a professional MMA fighter, with his biggest win coming over former Bellator bantamweight champion Darrion Caldwell at Bellator 159 in July of 2016.
