Report: Fedor Emelianenko & Chael Sonnen Grand Prix Clash Set For Bellator 208
The second half of the Bellator Heavyweight World Grand Prix semi-finals will take place the day after the first half according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN as Fedor Emelianenko faces Chael Sonnen.
Emelianenko (37-5-0-1NC) earned himself a spot in the semi-finals with a first round knockout win over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir at Bellator 198. Emelianenko did lose in his Bellator debut back at Bellator 180, as Matt Mitrione defeated him by first round knockout. Emelianenko has suffered just five defeats in his forty-plus fight professional MMA career, by no fighter has gotten a decision win over the legendary heavyweight.
Sonnen (30-15-1) punched his ticket to the grand prix semi-finals with a decision win over former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rampage Jackson at Bellator 192. Sonnen will also enter the bout on the strength of a two fight winning streak, with that other victory coming over Wanderlei Silva at Bellator 180. Sonnen has picked up the majority of his professional MMA wins by way of decision, but has only suffered a single defeat in the exact same method.
