Report: Eric Spicely Returns, Replaces Bruno Silva Against Deron Winn
After being released in 2018, Eric Spicely is set to return to the octagon, taking on Deron Winn this Saturday night at UFC Fight Night Greenville.
After being released from the UFC last year, Eric Spicely is now reportedly set for an octagon return, replacing Bruno Silva and facing Deron Winn this Saturday night at UFC Fight Night Greenville.
Following three straight losses, Spicely (12-4) was cut from the roster but rebounded outside of the promotion, stopping Leo Pla and Caio Magalhães within an impressive two-month period. According to a report from MyMMANews, he now rejoins the UFC for a short-notice opportunity, fighting promotional newcomer Winn. Spicely’s name was first mentioned as a potential replacement in a tweet from Ariel Helwani.
Originally set to fight Bruno Silva, Winn (5-0) has now lost two opponents due to injury but thanks to Spicely, remains set for his promotional debut this Saturday night. Winn most recently competed at the infamous Golden Boy MMA event that was headlined by the third fight between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. In the show’s co-headliner, Winn defeated UFC veteran Tom Lawlor, scoring a unanimous decision win.
That bout took place at Light Heavyweight but now in the UFC, Winn will make his 185 pound debut. Prior to the Lawlor bout, Winn had won all four of his bouts via 1st round knockout.
