Report: Edson Barboza vs. Dan Ige Added To UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris
A featherweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris as #15 Dan Ige faces Edson Barboza.
Raphael Marinho of Combate first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Barboza (20-8-0) is dropping to featherweight after having previously competed at lightweight, with the fighter earning a 14-8-0 record as a lightweight in the UFC. Barboza has won just one of his last five under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Dan Hooker at UFC On Fox 31. Barboza has picked up twenty wins as a professional MMA fighter and twelve of them came by way of KO/TKO.
Ige (13-2-0) enters the contest riding a five fight winning streak, defeating Mike Santiago, Jordan Griffin, Danny Henry, Kevin Aguilar and Mirsad Bektic. Ige hasn’t suffered a defeat in over two years, with that last loss coming to Julio Arce at UFC 220 in January of 2018. Ige also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 3, defeating Luis Gomez by third round submission.
UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris takes place on Saturday, May 16 from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida with Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
