Report: Edson Barboza Loses Appeal, Alex Oliveira To File One

Edson Barboza and Paul Felder collided in the co-main event of UFC 242, with Felder picking up a split decision victory.

Barboza, who believes he was robbed by the judges decision, would file an appeal and that appeal has been denied by the UFC, who was self regulating the event.

Alex Davis, who is Barboza’s manager, would tell MMA Fighting that a third bout may be in the works between Barboza and Felder.

“Paul Felder is down to doing it,” Davis said. “I’ll talk to (UFC matchmaker) Sean Shelby this week. Edson wants the Felder fight, but we don’t know if that’s going to happen.”

Davis is a busy manager when it comes to filing appeals, as he has filed one on behalf of Alex Oliveira, who suffered a decision loss to Nicolas Dalby at UFC Fight Night Copenhagen.

The manager claims that an errant third round stand up by referee Rebin Saber when Oliveira was in top position is what lead to his fighter suffering the loss.

“I’ll appeal every time there’s a mistake, not because I think I’ll win, but because we have to fight it,” Davis said. “A mistake happens, everyone forgets about it in three or four days, and life goes on. We can’t let that happen. The mistake in (Oliveira’s) fight cost him half of his purse. The mistake in Dhiego Lima’s fight almost cost that. I’ll complain every time something like this happens, and I think everyone should, too. If we don’t do this, no one else will. My fighters, their teams and myself are the ones who lose with that. It’s a matter of principles.”

There is no word yet on when the ruling is going to be made on the appeal filed by Davis for Oliveira.
