Lightweight title showdown between Devin Haney and Jorge Linares set for May

Undefeated WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney will make the third defense of his title against Jorge Linares as the headlining bout of a DAZN card in May, first reported by SI’s Chris Mannix and later backed up by The Athletic’s Mike Coppinger, although no official announcement has been made for the matchup yet. Haney is one of boxing’s rising young stars at just 22-years old, he currently sits at 25-0 as a professional and is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over former Olympic gold medalist Yuriorkis Gamboa back on November 7 of last year. Linares a former WBC lightweight champion himself is 47-5 and won his last two fights, most recently knocking out Carlos Morales in the fourth round back on February 14, 2020. 

Cub Swanson takes on Giga Chikadze at UFC event in May

Featherweights Cub Swanson and Giga Chikadze will meet a yet-to-be-announced UFC Fight Night event on May 1st, first reported by Adjara Sport. Swanson will try to make it three in a row against Chikadze, knocking out Danel Pineda in the second round back at UFC 256 in his last fight. The Georgian contender on the other hand is riding a seven-fight win streak currently and has won his last five fights inside the Octagon, stopping Jamey Simmons via a first-round TKO back at UFC Vegas 13 in his last appearance.

Damir Hadzovic meets Nikolas Motta at UFC event in May

Bosnia’s Damir Hadzovic will return to the Octagon against Nikolas Motta at a yet-to-be-announced UFC Fight Night event on May 8, first reported by MMA DNA. Hadzovic will try to avoid a three-fight skid against Motta, losing his last bout against Renato Moicano via a second-round submission due to a rear-naked choke at UFC Fight Night 170. Motta on the other hand has won three fights in a row, beating Joseph Lowry via a unanimous decision on Dana White’s Contender Series 35. 

Randa Marko vs. Luana Pinheiro added to UFC 260 on March 27

Women’s strawweights Randa Markos and Luana Pinheiro will meet at UFC 260 on March 27, the promotion’s Brazillian account announced via their Twitter. Markos has lost three in a row and most recently was defeated by Kanako Murata via a unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 14, while Pinheiro will try to get her second Octagon win after knocking out Stephanie Frausto in the first round at Dana White’s Contender Series 35. 

Josh Parisian vs. Roque Martinez targeted for UFC event in June

Josh Parisian and Roque Martinez are being targeted to faceoff in a heavyweight clash at a yet-to-be-announced UFC Fight Night event on June 19, first reported by MMA DNA. Parisian is 1-1 inside of the Octagon and will try to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to Parker Porter at UFC Vegas 15. Martinez will try to get his first UFC victory and avoid going 0-3 inside the promotion, last being defeated by Don’Tale Myers at UFC Vegas 14 via a unanimous decision. 

Raufeon Stots vs. Josh Hill on tap for Bellator 258

Bantamweight contenders Raufeon Stots and Josh Hill will meet at Bellator 258 on May 7, first reported by MMAJunkie’s Farah Hannoun and Nolan King. Stots a former two-time NCAA Division II wrestling champion at the University of Nebraska-Kearney has gone 3-0 in his stint with Bellator so far last defeating Keith Lee via a unanimous decision at Bellator 253. The Canadian Hill on the other hand is 2-0 inside the Bellator cage, taking a unanimous decision victory in his last outing over Erik Perez at Bellator 244.
