Report: Dennis Michael Wright Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter Related To Death Of Bellator MMA Fighter Jordan Parsons
Rising MMA star Jordan Parsons was struck by a vehicle driven by Dennis Michael Wright on May 1 of 2016, which would result in the fighters death on May 4.
According to a report from My Palm Beach Post, a plea deal has been struck between Wright and Palm Beach County (Florida) prosecutors. Wright has agreed to plea guilty to DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. The plea deal is going to see Wright receive a ten year prison sentence, plus Wright will have to keep a photo of Parsons on him at all times and he’ll have to speak at local schools about the dangers of drinking and driving.
The plea deal will remain in effect as long as Wright “tells the truth about his alcohol consumption and actions on April 30/31, including the speed he was driving when he struck and killed (Parsons) and his actions from the time he struck (Parsons) until the time he turned himself in.” Sentencing is currently scheduled for August 29, although an exact time for it has yet to be revealed.
Parsons went 2-1-0 during his time in Bellator MMA (11-2-0 overall), with those victories coming over Tim Bazer and Julio Cesar Neves Jr. Parsons last professional MMA bout took place at Bellator 146, where he was on the wrong end of a split decision to Bubba Jenkins.
After his passing, a scholarship fund was set up for amateur wrestlers called the “Jordan Parsons Scholarship” and you can donate to the fund by clicking here.
