Report: CSAC Temporarily Suspends Walt Harris For Positive Drug Test
Walt Harris competed on the preliminary card of UFC 232, defeating former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski by decision.
However, a report from MMA Fighting is stating that the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has temporarily suspended Harris for a positive drug test. The temporary suspension will remain in tact until the B sample results of the drug test come back.
Harris allegedly tested positive for a substance known as LGD4033, which is a member of the selective androgen receptor modules (SARMs) family. Harris’s sample was collected by the CSAC and not by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), but USADA can still sanction the fighter if they choose to do so.
There has been no comment from Harris at this time, but UFC VP Of Athlete Performance & Health Jeff Novitzky told MMA Fighting that USADA is going to remain in the background at this moment to see how everything plays out.
“They’re going to remain in the background and let this play out on the California side and then determine the path where we go,” Novitzky said.
If Harris’ second sample comes back positive, it could mean a suspension and the result of the UFC 232 fight against Arlovski overturned to a no contest.
