Report: Chris Gonzalez Faces Luis Vargas At Bellator 226
A lightweight division attraction has been added to Bellator 226 according to MMA Fighting as Chris Gonzalez is going to be in action against Luis Vargas.
Gonzalez (2-0-0) has competed once before under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating Charlie Radtke by unanimous decision at Bellator 221. Gonzalez made his professional MMA debut late last year at Gladiator Challenge: Avalanche, defeating Tyrese McCloud by first round submission. Gonzalez has no amateur MMA experience to speak of, so his professional MMA experience stands as the fighter’s complete MMA experience.
Vargas (2-3-0) is winless in Bellator MMA competition, having dropped bouts to the duo of JJ Okanovich and Juan Cardenas. Vargas is back in action for the first time in over a year, with his last bout being a loss to Kaleio Romero via second round submission at Combate Americas: Mexico vs. USA. Vargas has competed five times as a professional MMA fighter and none of his bouts have gone past the second round.
Bellator 226 takes place on Saturday, September 7 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California with Ryan Bader and Cheick Kongo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on DAZN.
