It kills me to say this, but I took an injury while rolling on Tuesday night, and will no longer be fighting February 29th in Norfolk, Va. I’ve been preparing for this fight for what seems like 2 whole fight camps. My mind and body were ready to go, but I guess it just wasn’t in the cards this time. I’m not positive what the next step in my career/life, but for now I will focus on getting healthy. (hopefully without surgery) My mind tells me I have a lot of great fight left, but my body fails to see the light at the end of the tunnel, unfortunately. Thank you to all my coaches and teammates @sanfordmma! I firmly believe we have the best team in the game! We truly have something special going on here in South Florida!

UFC officials are seeking a replacement for Skelly, as Dawson is expected to remain on the card at this time.

Dawson (14-1-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, having defeated the duo of Julian Erosa and Michael Trizano. Dawson also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 6, defeating Adrian Diaz by second round submission. Dawson has picked up fourteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and ten of them came by way of submission.

UFC Fight Night Norfolk takes place on Saturday, February 29 from the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia with Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
