Report: Cat Zingano Returns At UFC 222
A women’s bantamweight division attraction may be added to next year’s UFC 222 card as #6 Cat Zingano is in action against #8 Ketlen Vieira.
MMA Brasil first reported the fight.
Zingano (9-2-0) enters the fight on a two bout losing streak, dropping fights to former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey and Julianna Pena. Zingano hasn’t earned a victory in over three years and that last win came over current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 178. Zingano has fought a total of four times in the UFC, with three of those bouts coming against fighters who have held the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title.
Vieira (9-0-0) has already won three bouts under the UFC banner, defeating Sara McMann, Ashlee Evans-Smith and Kelly Faszholz. Vieira also enters the fight undefeated as a professional MMA fighter with a streak that has lasted over three years. Vieira is returning to her native Brazil for the first time since defeating Estefani Almeida by decision at Big Way Fight 9 in February of 2016.
UFC 222 takes place on Saturday, March 3 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
