Report: Bruno Silva Issued Two Year Suspension By USADA
It is going to be quite a while before Bruno Silva makes his UFC debut because the fighter has reportedly been suspended two years by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
MMA Fighting first reported the news, but no press release and/or statement has been issued by the UFC or USADA at this time. Silva had reportedly tested positive for boldenone, which is a member of the steroid family.
Silva was set to face Deron Winn last year at UFC Fight Night Greenville, but was pulled from the card and replaced by Eric Spicely due to the USADA violation. Bernardo Serale, who is Silva’s representative, tells MMA Fighting that he believes Silva is innocent and they are working on proving the fighter’s innocence.
Since the suspension is retroactive to the date of the drug test failure, a suspended Silva can compete again in June of 2021. Silva was coming into the UFC with a ton of hype, as the fighter entered the promotion riding a four fight winning streak and he is a former M-1 Challenge Middleweight Champion.
