Report: Bobby Voelker Signs With Bellator MMA

Strikeforce and UFC veteran Bobby Voelker is coming to Bellator MMA as the fighter has reportedly signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion.

A newly signed Voelker is planning on putting on some exciting fights for the fans of Bellator MMA.

“I’m glad to be back,” Voelker told MMA Junkie. “I still like to put on exciting fights for the fans, but I’m continuing to grow as a fighter, and I’m glad I’m going to have the chance to show it in Bellator.”

Voelker went winless during a four fight run in the UFC, dropping bouts to Patrick Cote, Robbie Lawler, William Macario and Lance Benoist.

The fighter has previously served as a referee in MMA bouts and Voelker believes that experience will serve him well going forward.

“As I’m reffing, I’ve become more aware of what the fighters are going to do before the fighters even do it,” Voelker said. “So, in my own fights, I can almost sense what my opponent might be more willing to do at that moment than if I wasn’t a ref I wouldn’t have noticed that. I wasn’t mad about being told to stop for now. I understand where they’re coming from with conflict of interest, but it’s something I’d like to get back into when I’m done fighting.”

There is no word yet as to when Voelker will make his promotional debut or whom that bout will come against.
