Report: Bellator MMA Veteran Virgil Zwicker Arrested On Charges Of Sexual Assault Of A Child
Bellator MMA and Strikeforce veteran Virgil Zwicker was arrested last week by Riverside County (California) sheriffs after a warrant had been issued in his name for allegations of sexually assaulting a child.
Valley News is reporting that a standoff between Zwicker and the officers took place when the warrant was being served. The report states that Zwicker had refused to cooperate with the authorities, which lead to a chase through his home and surrounding neighborhood before finally being arrested.
Zwicker was being arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child this past September, but the identity of said victim was not released to the public since the victim is a minor.
The charges that Zwicker was facing include resisting arrest, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, stalking, aggravated sexual assault of a minor and lewd acts on a child. Zwicker has pleaded not guilty to all charges levied against him, but is still being held on $1 million bail at the Byrd Detention Center.
An incarcerated Zwicker last competed at Oktagon MMA 12 in June of this year, defeating fellow Bellator MMA veteran Attila Vegh by first round TKO. Zwicker has a 17-9-1 professional MMA record, which includes stints in Bellator MMA and Strikeforce.
