Report: Bellator MMA Veteran Alexis Vila Given 15 Year Sentence For Arranging Kidnapping & Murder

Camilo Salazar was abducted in Miami in late May of 2011 and just a short time later on June 2, a murdered Salazar was found in the Florida Everglades. The autopsy performed on Salazar showed that the murder victim was attacked with multiple blows to the body and head, leaving him with fractured skull and jaw. However, it was a sliced throat with a sharp object such as a knife or box cutter that ended the kidnapped man’s life. Salazar’s body was also doused in gasoline and he was lit on fire, it is unknown if Salazar was alive or dead when that action took place.

One of the people who participated in the kidnapping and murder of Salazar according to CBS Miami was Bellator MMA veteran Alexis Vila, who was given a 15 year sentence for his role in the arranging the whole thing. Vila was accused of kidnapping and participating in the murder of Salazar, as both Vila and Salazar worked at the Presidente store, which was owned by Manuel Marin, who has been accused of setting the whole thing up.

Vila was convicted of facilitating the crime after records showed that the former Bellator fighter maintained phone contact with the other people who also participated in Salazar’s murder. Vila’s trainer in Ariel Gandulla also testified against Vila and others during the trial, with Gandulla claiming that the others duped him (Gandulla) into helping with the kidnapping and murder of Salazar.

The jailed Vila also competed multiple times since participating in the kidnapping and murder of Salazar, including bouts in Bellator MMA, World Series Of Fighting and Titan Fighting Championships.
