Report: Bellator MMA Signs Karl Albrektsson

A new threat is reportedly making his way to the Bellator MMA Light Heavyweight Division as the promotion has allegedly signed Karl Albrektsson to a deal.

The Sun first reported the news, but the length of the contract or any financial numbers associated with the deal weren’t revealed at this time.

Albrektsson (9-2-0) comes into the promotion riding a three fight winning streak, defeating the trio of Dmitry Tebekin, Josh Stansbury and Christiano Frohlich. Albrektsson competed five times under the Rizin banner, scoring three wins over Vadim Nemkov, Teodoras Aukstoulis and the aforementioned Frohlich. Albrektsson has competed a total of eleven times as a professional MMA fighter and only three of those bouts went the distance. Albrektsson has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter, with those defeats coming at the hands of Jiri Prochazka and Valentin Moldavsky

There is no word at this time as to when Albrektsson will make his promotional debut or whom that bout will come against, but Albrektsson is entering a weight class currently ruled by Ryan Bader. Bader is defending the Bellator MMA Heavyweight Title against Cheick Kongo this September, but no light heavyweight title defense is scheduled at this point in time.
