Report: Bellator 227 Draws Second Lowest TV Viewership Numbers Of 2019
This past weekend, MMA fans were treated to a trio of events from Bellator MMA and an event from the UFC. However, Bellator 227 was the only one of those events to air live on TV, as Bellator Dublin, Bellator 228 and UFC Fight Night Copenhagen were streamed live online.
Bellator 227, which aired via tape delay on the Paramount Network, brought in a total of 276,000 viewers according to MMA Fighting. That was the second lowest viewership number in 2019 for Bellator MMA, as Bellator 218 from March of this year brought in 255,000 viewers.
The fights that comprised the Bellator 227 card saw Ben Henderson defeat Myles Jury, Kiefer Crosbie defeat Hugo Pereira, Leah McCourt defeat Kerry Hughes, Frans Mlambo defeat Dominique Wooding and Norbert Novenyi Jr. defeat Will Fleury.
MMA Fighting also reports that Bellator’s TV viewership numbers on the Paramount Network are down approximately 31% from last year, with a huge factor being that the majority of the promotion’s major events stream live on DAZN instead of airing on the Paramount Network.
Up next for Bellator MMA is Bellator 229, which airs tomorrow night on the Paramount Network, with Andrey Koreshkov and Lorenz Larkin in the main event slot.
