Report: Ante Delija Replaces Shamil Abdurakhimov At UFC Fight Island 6

Shamil Abdurakhimov has withdrawn from UFC Fight Island 6 for undisclosed reasons, replacing him against Ciryl Gane is Ante Delija.

La Sueur first reported the news.

Gane (6-0-0) has already picked up three wins in the UFC with those victories coming over Raphael Pessoa, Don’Tale Mayes and Tanner Boser. Abdurakhimov is undefeated thus far as a professional MMA fighter and that streak has lasted just over a year. Abdurakhimov has competed six times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of those encounters went the distance.

Delija (17-3-0) will make his UFC debut in this encounter and does so on the strength of a three-fight winning streak. Delija is competing for the first time in about a year, as his last professional MMA fight took place in November of 2019. Delija has competed 20 times as a professional MMA fighter and just four of those bouts went the distance.

UFC Fight Island 6 takes place on Saturday, October 17 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
