Report: Ali Abdelaziz Gets Into Confrontations With Abe Kawa & Anthony Pettis At PFL 7
The Professional Fighters League kicked off their season two playoffs this past Friday Night with PFL 7, which saw fighters battle their way to both the welterweight division and women’s lightweight division finals.
However, more action took place outside of the PFL Smart Cage, as manager Ali Abdelaziz reportedly got into a physical altercation with another manager in Abe Kawa.
MMA Junkie is reporting that both Kawa and Abdelaziz got into a brief physical confrontation at the event, while a separate report from ESPN states that the altercation began after Abdelaziz slapped Kawa in the face.
PFL Executive Vice President Of Business Affairs Jim Branson issued the following statement to MMA Junkie on the matter:
“Unfortunately, I don’t have any details on what happened. We were obviously focused on the action that was going on inside the cage. It was kind of a riveting evening. We are aware that there was an incident that occurred. They went and checked it out. The Metropolitan police and the hotel security were handling the situation, and we will be following up with them to get more details later.”
A spokesperson for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police issued the following statement on the altercation:
“Two subjects were involved in a brief physical altercation where a battery was committed. LVMPD officers were on scene and temporarily detained one of subjects during the investigation. That subject was cooperative. He was issued a citation and released. No enforcement action was taken regarding the second subject, who was also cooperative. There were no significant injuries.”
Kawa wasn’t the only person that Abdelaziz reportedly got into a confrontation against, as video has surfaced of Abdelaziz allegedly getting physical with former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis, which you can see below:
