Report: Alexandre Pantoja vs. Askar Askarov Added To July 18 UFC Card

A flyweight division attraction has been added to the UFC card on July 18 as #4 (Tied) Alexandre Pantoja faces #7 Askar Askarov.

MMA Junkie first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.

Pantoja (22-4-0) has won four of his last five under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Brandon Moreno, Yuta Sasaki, Wilson Reis and Matt Schnell. Pantoja has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter and three of them came to UFC veterans. Pantoja has picked up twenty two wins as a professional MMA fighter and sixteen of those wins came via a form of finish.

Askarov (11-0-1) has won just one of two in the UFC, with that lone win coming over Tim Elliott at UFC 246. Askarov has a single blemish on his professional MMA career, which was a split draw against the aforementioned Moreno at UFC Fight Night Mexico City. Askarov is a former Absolute Championship Berkut Flyweight Champion and he relinquished the gold upon signing with the UFC.

The recently announced UFC card takes place on Saturday, July 18 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
