Report: Alex Nicholson Suspended Four Years By The NAC For First Time Drug Offense

UFC veteran and PFL fighter Alex Nicholson won’t be seen fighting anytime soon as the competitor has been suspended four years by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC).

MMA Junkie reports that Nicholson failed an in-competition drug test issued by the NAC on October 31 and failed for multiple anabolic steroids, with those illegal substances being drostanolone, nandrolone and trenbolone.

The NAC stated that Nicholson chose not to respond to a complaint filed by NAC Executive Director Bob Bennett, nor was the fighter in attendance at today’s hearing in person or via phone.

Due to the multitude of substances that Nicholson failed for and for also not appearing at the hearing in any way, a fine of $15,363.40 (60% of his fight night purse and $363.40 for commission legal fees) was awarded to the fighter.

Members of the commission decided to apply the aggravated circumstances designation for Nicholson, which allowed them to increase the penalty and suspension for the fighter. Since the suspension is retroactive to the date of the failed test, it would allow Nicholson to return to action on October 31 of 2023.
