Report: 3 Bouts, Including Title Fight, Added To Combate Americas: Ortiz vs. Del Rio

Three more fights have reportedly been added to Combate America: Ortiz vs. Del Rio as Melissa Martinez faces Desiree Yanez for the vacant women’s strawweight title, while pro wrestler Dulce “Sexy Star” Garcia faces Marisol Ruelas and Daniel Barez faces UFC veteran Joby Sanchez.

MMA Fighting reported the women’s strawweight title bout and Garcia vs. Ruelas, while Combate Americas revealed the Sanchez versus Barez bout.

Martinez (6-0-0) has picked up five wins under the Combate Americas banner, with four of them coming by way of KO/TKO. Yanez (4-1-0) is undefeated thus far in Combate Americas competition, having defeated Paulina Vargas by third round submission at Combate 40. 

Garcia (1-0-0) made her professional MMA debut earlier this year at Combate 35, defeating Mariana Ruiz Avila by unanimous decision. Ruelas (1-1-0) is undefeated thus far in Combate competition, defeating Corrie Ward by second round submission at Combate 33. 

Barez (10-4-0) is making his Combate Americas debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Sanchez (12-5-0) is also making his Combate debut in this bout, but the fighter has had two separate runs in the UFC. 

Combate Americas: Ortiz vs. Del Rio takes place on Saturday, December 7 from the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas with Tito Ortiz and Alberto Del Rio headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on pay-per-view.
