Rashad Evans Loses Fourth Straight, Sam Alvey Victorious At UFC Mexico

Rashad Evans just can't seem to get back in the win column, as he dropped a split decision Saturday night to Sam Alvey at UFC Fight Night Mexico City.

The fight started out in typical Rashad Evans fashion, with Evans pressing Alvey against the cage as he looked to wrestle. Alvey was able to land a knee and separate, but couldn't get anything going on the feet for the rest of the first round. Evans looked exhausted after the first round in his corner.

The fight also continued in typical Rashad Evans fashion, with him relying on an overhand right and a blast double leg. However, Sam Alvey was able to land enough counter knees and elbows out of the clinch to get the split decision victory.

The placement of the fight — fifth from the top — told a sad story of the recent history of Evans. Once a UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and TUF season two member, he became a key cog in the UFC's pay-per-view success. Unfortunately for him, he's been unable to win since 2013, and Michael Bisping is the only active UFC fighter Evans hold a win over.

After the fight, Alvey seemed disappointed that he wasn't given promo time, saying that he learned Spanish for it.
