Raquel Pennington Wanted To Hit Colby Covington At Recent Press Conference

Raquel Pennington is preparing to challenge UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes for the gold in the main event of UFC 224.

The title challenger recently participated in a UFC 25 press conference alongside Colby Covington and others, but Covington is the only person she wants to hit.

“You know, I’m not about that, so I don’t really care about the added attention, the hostility, and quite frankly, the press conference was a little annoying,” she said to MMA Junkie. “I wanted to smack him in the back of the head.”

Covington is also preparing for a title shot of his own, as the competitor faces former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos for the vacant UFC Interim Welterweight Title at UFC 225.

A huge reason Pennington wants to slap Covington is that she finds what he said at the press conference to be unnecessary at best.

“I just find it unnecessary,” she said. “But to each his own, and that’s the macho talk coming out of the guy, so whatever.”

UFC 224 takes place on Saturday, May 12 from the Jeunesse Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with Amanda Nunes and Raquel Pennington headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
