Raiders QB Derek Carr Wants UFC Fight Against Stephen A. Smith; Actual Odds Are Released
Derek Carr is tired of getting bashed by sports media personalities.
ESPN First Take is a morning “hot take” show featuring Max Kellerman and Stephen A. Smith where the two argue over the biggest topics in sports. Recently, they discussed the Oakland Raiders potentially moving on from current quarterback Derek Carr in favor of drafting a rookie quarterback. Max Kellerman said “Carr is not the long-term answer. He looked like a quarterback who had quit.”
Carr was alerted to the comments on social media and offered up this is a response:
–it’s because I blocked them both for talking trash about our team. Those 2 clowns don’t know anything about this game. Would love to actually sit and break down film with these two on tv just to show their viewers how incompetent (lacking qualification) they are about our game.

Carr took it a step further, tagging UFC President Dana White, asking to fight Kellerman and/or Stephen A. in the Octagon.
@ufc @danawhite hey how do I challenge a couple of these clowns on tv to a fight? I think we should start a business together. Where pro athletes can challenge some of these people to an octagon fight until they give us an answer…. You don’t know me… stop lying.

Stephen A. fired back, saying he would love to meet up with Carr….to discuss his career.

A fight between an NFL quarterback and an ESPN personality is about as likely as, well, a fight between an NFL quarterback and an ESPN personality. But that didn’t stop betting site Bovada from releasing odds on the theoretical showdown.
Raiders’ QB @derekcarrqb has asked for a UFC fight with @stephenasmith. Bovada released odds on a potential Stephen A. Smith vs. Derek Carr fight.
Stephen A. Smith -130
Derek Carr -110
So there’s that…..

Those odds seem pretty generous to Smith given that Carr is an NFL athlete and 24 years younger. But maybe they know something about Stephen A’s combat sports background that we don’t.
With the UFC and ESPN being partners now, maybe this fight will come to fruition.
It won’t.
