Police Report Filed Against Brian Ortega For Slapping Jay Park, Korean Zombie Issues Warning
UFC 248 was an action packed MMA card, but an unadvertised physical altercation took place in the crowd between UFC fighter Brian Ortega and musician Jay Park, who serves as a translator for Chan Sung Jung.
Ortega, in response to an appearance both Jung and Park made on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, would approach Park before the co-main event of UFC 248 and allegedly slap him in the face while Jung was in the bathroom.
Jason House, who is the manager of Jung, issued a statement to MMA Junkie saying that a police report has been filed against Ortega:
“Both teams were contacted prior to last night’s event and were asked by the UFC to be respectful and to not have any confrontations. Our team respected the UFC’s request and maintained our professionalism throughout the night. Police reports were filed immediately after the incident occurred and now it’s a matter for law enforcement officials to handle. Korean Zombie has always been a class act and will continue to be. Our objective remains the same; to put ourselves in the best position both inside and outside the cage to become the featherweight champion this year.”
Jung would also issue Ortega a warning through Instagram:
The two competitors were supposed to battle last year at UFC Fight Night Busan, but Ortega pulled out of the bout due to injury and was replaced by former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar.
