PFL Debut Event Ratings Are In

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) made their debut this past Friday Night (6/30) with not only their first event on the NBC Sports Network, but there debut as a promotion.

Even though the show started approximately two hours early due to a rain delay at a Nascar event, the show still drew a respectable 291,000 viewers.

UFC veteran and the final World Series Of Fighting Welterweight Champion on Jon Fitch defeated Brian Foster by submission in the main event of the show. The other three fights on the show saw UFC veteran Jason High defeat Caros Fodor, UFC veteran Ronny Markes defeat former WSOF Heavyweight Champion Smealinho Rama and Herman Terrado defeated Joao Zeferino.

There wasn’t much sports related competition to oppose the MMA event, as the NFL, NBA and NHL are all in their off season at the moment.

When the promotion returns with PFL 2 on July 29, the competition is going to be stiffer as that event is going head to head with UFC 214, which features a trio of title fights. The main event of the PFL 2 card is going to see the final WSOF Featherweight Champion in Andre Harrison take on Steven Rodriguez, while other notables like Jake Shields, Yushin Okami, Jared Rosholt and Josh Copeland will be on the under card.
