Paulie Malignaggi and Artem Lobov were recently involved in a brief scuffle during the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 5 media day.
The retired boxer may face Lobov down the line at a BKFC event and he plans on hospitalizing Lobov of the bout does come to fruition.
“I shouldn’t just beat Lobov; I should put him in the hospital. Otherwise, it’s not a win for me. And of course, the money they’re going to pay me to fight a guy like Lobov, it’s more money than I’ve made for some of my bigger fights, and I’m basically fighting a punching bag with legs to get that money. So for me, I can only hope that Saturday goes well for him,” Malignaggi said at the media event (via Steven Marrocoo & Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie).
Lobov fights Jason Knight this weekend at BKFC 5 and a win for Lobov is expected to set up a bout with Malignaggi.
Malignaggi has watched Lobov train before and he thinks the former UFC veteran is really bad.
“I remember thinking, this guy is really bad,” Malignaggi said. “I didn’t think Conor was that good, but (Lobov) was really bad. So if he’s anything like that, I worry for him for Saturday night, because anybody can win that fight. If Artem is anything like I saw two years ago, any punch could potentially land on him.”
Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 5 takes place on Saturday, April 6 from the Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center in Biloxi, Mississippi with Artem Lobov and Jason Knight headlining.
