Paul Daley Wants Special Stipulation For Potential MVP Fight
Paul Daley came up short against Rory MacDonald in the main event of Bellator 179, then got into a brief scuffle with Michael “Venom” Page after the fight.
That scuffle has lead to rumors that the two would headline the next Bellator MMA event in England. If that fight does come to fruition, then Daley would like a special stipulation put in the contract for their bout.
“You just have to see the comments that people are making on websites. Only people that are in his corner and the trouser kickboxing community like him. The hardcore MMA fans don't like him for whatever reason. Maybe its because of his clowning or he’s untested. I would be 11-0-0 if I fought all of his opponents. I’m no spring chicken, but I’ve got enough in the tank to teach this guy a lesson. If MVP wants to stand and trade we can put a no takedown clause in the contract. Whoever goes for the first takedown loses 50% of their purse. We’ll see who comes out on top,” Daley told WHOA TV.
MVP was supposed to fight Derek Anderson on the Bellator 179 card, but was pulled from the fight due to an injury.
Daley’s mother was also in attendance at the fight and spoke to MVP, but that’s nothing for Daley to be concerned about.
“She felt she had to go over to Michael to talk to him personally. Anyone who knows my mom will tell you she is not one to cower in the corner. She didn't need consoling. If anyone would have needed consoling it would have been Michael Page, because if you think I’m a beast, you haven't met my mom. I wasn’t happy she did it, but I wasn't there to stop her and I wouldn't have been able to stop her had I been there. I’m not going to dwell on that too much, but I don't think he should mention people’s parents in any lead up to our potential fight,” says Daley.
There is no date set yet for a Bellator MMA return to England, but it is expected to happen by the end of the year.
