Patricio Freire Says He’ll Finish Emmanuel Sanchez at Bellator 209 & Wants To See Jose Aldo In Bellator
Patricio Pitbull is going to be defending the Bellator Featherweight Title against Emmanuel Sanchez in the main event of Bellator 209.
A confident Pitbull heads into Bellator 209 to start a familiar goal, which is to clean out the featherweight division for a second time.
“To me, its great to be fighting some new faces. These guys have come up and I cleaned the division once, so its time to clean the division again. Bring all these news guys and I’ll send them all back down,” says Pitbull in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.
Sanchez represents the first fighter to be facing Pitbull in a title match as a non-rematch opponent since Pitbull fought Daniel Weichel in their initial meeting at Bellator 138.
Pitbull has attempted to book some super fights during his time in Bellator MMA, but the featherweight champion claims the promotion has never come through on those requests.
“I had the opportunity to be the first two division champion back when (Joe) Warren was the champion, I asked for the fight and they didn’t give me featherweight champ against bantamweight champ. I’ve asked after that to fight the lightweight champion, I asked again to fight the bantamweight champion. They never give me these kinds of fights, so I would love to sit here and give you a name…his name (Michael Chandler) or any other name and create some fire around it, but they (Bellator) always keep pulling me back. I don’t have any motivation or any need to be thinking about these fights because every time I get excited about a new possibility, it never happens. It makes me sad to be talking like this,” says Pitbull.
Bellator 209 takes place on Thursday, November 15 from the Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv, Israel with Patricio Pitbull and Emmanuel Sanchez headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs via next day tape delay on the Paramount Network.
