Paige VanZant May Be Able To Train Again In About A Month
Paige VanZant was reportedly going to be fighting Poliana Botelho at UFC 236, but was replaced by Lauren Mueller after the fighter suffered a fractured arm while training.
The injured fighter has since visited her doctor and is saying that after four to six weeks of recovery, may be able to train and fight again.
VanZant revealed this information through Instagram Stories (via Steven Marrocco of MMA Junkie):
“So, it’s just a fracture right at the site of my screw. My arm is crazy swollen still, so we’re just waiting for the swelling to go down. We’re going to x-ray it in a month, and I think I will be good to go. What that means is I have to take a month off from contact. After that month is over I can sign a fight contract and get right into a fight camp.”
This is the third time time VanZant has injured her right arm, with the first time happening while fighting Jessica-Rose Clark at UFC Fight Night St. Louis. The arm wouldn’t heal properly after the initial surgery and a second surgery was performed a short time thereafter.
If VanZant’s timeline for a return is accurate, it could mean a return to Octagon action in the summer.
