Oscar De La Hoya Tells Dana White To Save His Own Company

Golden Boy MMA ran its first ever event last weekend with Golden Boy MMA Liddell vs. Ortiz III, which saw former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz defeating former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell in the main event.

The event has drawn some criticism from the MMA community, with one of the more vocal critics being UFC President Dana White.

White would criticize the promotion for allowing Liddell to fight after an eight year absence, plus the UFC President would also call Oscar De La Hoya “Oscar De La Cokehead.”

De La Hoya, who was the promoter for the event, would issue the following statement through his publicist to address those criticisms:

“Dana is so small and threatened by our success with DAZN and now in MMA that he is bringing up news from a decade ago to try to stay relevant. Boxing has entirely rejected him. And MMA fighters are now realizing they don’t have to risk their lives just so he can get rich. Golden Boy and I are moving forward and are bigger than ever. Dana should shut the (expletive) up and try to figure out how to save his own company.”

Others have come out in defense of the show as well, including Ortiz himself and CSAC Executive Director Andy Foster.

This is not the first time De La Hoya and White had disagreements, as the two would go back and forth in the lead up to “The Money Fight” between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.
