One Championships VP Has Talked With UFC & Bellator MMA About Cross Over Events
One Championships CEO Chatri Sityodtong is going to be seen cage side thing coming Friday at the One Championships 73 event.
The promotions CEO recently stated the One Vice President Of Operations Matt Hume has spoken with both the UFC and Bellator MMA about doing cross over events.
“Yeah, I have an open invitation to do world champion vs world champion fights, ONE Championship vs. UFC any day,” Sityodtong said to the International Business Times. “I know Matt Hume has talked to [UFC president] Dana White about Ben Askren fighting in the UFC against GSP [Georges St-Pierre]… I know Matt Hume has talked to [Bellator president] Scott Coker as well and I’ve also spoken to Scott Coker about a potential world champion vs. world champion. Let’s see.”
Former One Championships Welterweight Champion Ben Askren retired last year after a first round TKO victory over Shinya Aoki. Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion Rory MacDonald and Dillon Danis have both called Askren out, but both have had no success in getting him back in action.
Bellator MMA President Scott Coker has worked with other promotions before and has stated in the past that he is open to working with One Championships.
There has been no comment from either UFC or Bellator MMA officials about working with One Championships at this time.
