One Championship Debuting In Japan This March, Featuring Mighty Mouse, Alvarez & 3 Title Bouts
One Championship is going to be making its debut in Japan on March 31 and the card will feature a pair of debuting UFC veterans, plus a trio of title bouts.
Former UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson will compete for the first time in the promotion, facing Yuya Wakamatsu according to USA Today. It is unknown if the bout is going to be a part of the One Championship Flyweight Grand Prix that was announced a few months back.
Another former UFC fighter in former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez will also make his promotional debut, facing Timofey Nastyukhin. There is no word yet if this bout is a part of the upcoming lightweight grand prix, which like the upcoming flyweight grand prix, was announced a few months back.
Women’s Atomweight Champion Angela Lee will have a chance to become a double title holder in one Championship, as she faces Xiong Jing Nan for the women’s strawweight title. Also, two other champions in Aung La N Sang will defend the middleweight strap against Ken Hasegawa and Eduard Folayang will defend the lightweight title against Shinya Aoki.
One Championship: Japan takes place on Sunday, March 31 from the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan with Eduard Folayang and Shinya Aoki headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on the One App.
