Olivier Aubin-Mercier Signs With PFL, Competing In Season Three
Another former UFC fighter is transitioning to the Professional Fighters League (PFL) as Olivier Aubin-Mercier has signed with the promotion and will compete in season three.
Ariel Helwani of ESPN first reported the signing, while also stating that Aubin-Mercier will compete at lightweight in season three.
The newly signed fighter says he has always kept an eye on the PFL, even while competing in the UFC.
“I liked it so much that during those two years, I was trying to first win my last three fights in the UFC to finish my contract, but then get in PFL after that,” Aubin-Mercier said. “So I’m happy they still took me [despite losing his last UFC fight]. I’m really happy to be with them, and it’s gonna be a hell of a ride for the next year.”
Aubin-Mercier (11-5-0) left the UFC on a three fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Alexander Hernandez, Gilbert Burns and Arman Tsarukyan. Aubin-Mercier hasn’t picked up a win in almost two years, with that last victory coming over Evan Dunham at UFC 223. Aubin-Mercier has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came by way of decision.
There is no word at this time as to when Aubin-Mercier will make his promotional debut or whom that will come against.
